Hi, I’m Steve J., and I’m the person behind gamegear.best.
I’m a professional PC and console repairer and dealer, and I’ve been working in the gaming and computer industry for more than 25 years. Over that time, I’ve spent countless hours repairing, testing, buying, selling, and working with all kinds of gaming hardware and accessories. That hands-on experience has taught me something that I think is often forgotten when shopping for gaming gear: more expensive does not always mean better for you.
I established gamegear.best because I wanted a place where gamers could find sensible recommendations without having to dig through all the hype, exaggerated claims, and endless comparisons you see across the internet.
My approach in a nutshell is that I look at what a product actually offers, how well it performs in real use, what it costs, and whether that extra performance is something most gamers will genuinely notice or benefit from.
In many cases, you simply don’t need the most expensive option on the market. A product that costs twice as much doesn’t necessarily give you twice the experience. In fact, a lot of the extra performance advertised on premium products is something the vast majority of gamers will never really take advantage of.
That’s why I tend to prioritize value and practicality over chasing specifications just for the sake of having the highest numbers.
You won’t find me recommending something simply because it’s popular, heavily advertised, or considered the “best” by the internet. My recommendations are based on the criteria I personally use when choosing gaming hardware and accessories for myself, my customers, and the people I work with.
The principle behind this website is simple: Don’t be fooled by the hype. Buy what you actually need, spend your money wisely, and get the performance that is enough for you to enjoy your games.
After more than 25 years in this industry, that’s the kind of advice I would give to a customer standing in front of me in my shop. gamegear.best is simply my way of sharing that experience with a much larger gaming community.
